About CNAQ/AWC Writing Workshops

College of the North Atlantic - Qatar and Advanced Writing Centre
Community Outreach Writing Workshops

CNA-Q is one of the premier technical colleges operating in the Middle East. Established by the State of Qatar in 2001 it has grown from a few hundred students to nearly 2000 full-time and over 1500 part-time students across diverse business and technical diploma and certificant programs. All of our students pursue their studies in English, a second or foreign language for the vast majority. Our graduates can be found around the world pursuing university programs in their chosen fields.

The Advanced Writing Centre provides our students with one-on-one mentoring specifically designed to help them become better, more independent writers in English. In addition, the AWC provides a series of community outreach writing workshops that is offered free of charge to the general public in Doha. The works represented in Tessera are created exclusively by participants in these writing workshops.

The writing workshops vary in themes, from personal/creative to professional/technical writing. They are advertised in local media early in the Fall and Winter semesters. Normally a maximum of 15 people per workshop are accepted on a first come-first serve basis. It is common for workshops to reach maximum registration withing a few days of being annnounced.

For all aspiring or veteren scribes, the AWC produces another online writing magazine, Mosaic 2.0. It aims to publish two editions per year. It can be found at www.awcmosaic.blogspot.com . Mosaic 2.0 invites submissions from writers around the world. To learn more about how to submit your poems, stories, essays, etc., check out the Submit link at Mosaic 2.0.
